Senior Project Update #2
This week I went to Bend with my family for my birthday. There, I was able to work on my survey analysis in a new environment and get insight from my family. My favorite memory was showing the survey analysis to my brother, who surprised me by coming home from college for my birthday. He was so excited to see my work and impressed by the depth of the survey I had conducted. He also gave me some recommendations on what to include in my report, which was helpful since I felt a little bit stuck this week.
I have learned a lot about how students actually feel about race and ethnicity on campus. While there have been varying opinions and some criticism of the survey itself, I've been most interested by the sheer number of ideas that students have for how we can improve. I've worked on summarizing all of the qualitative data and have found a great list of topics we can cover better in the curriculum, races that could be better represented, and generally questions that I can easily pass along to John and Aline. I've also learned the importance of staying organized during a process like this. I find that as I work I jump around between tasks which can sometimes get overwhelming.
My goals from week 1 remain the same, and I feel like I am making good progress towards them. I am still wondering what my final presentation will look like and how I want to best present all of the qualitative data that I collect. I also wanted to note that I don't have pictures to include, simply because any pictures I could put here would just be screenshots of the google doc that I'm working on.
Anushka, I'm so glad you are doing this project. Thank you for spending all this time and effort soliciting information from your peers --I'm quite curious about your conclusions. Please know that I will welcome hearing your analysis in whatever form you can best convey it. Happy birthday and I'm glad you got to see Avi!
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing this work, Anuska! Will you be able to share the results more widely than just the administration?
ReplyDeleteAnushka I am really proud of this work you are doing and how you have maintained both a micro and macro perspective throughout this process!
ReplyDeleteHi Jim!
ReplyDeleteI just put a little example of what my analysis looks like in my newest blog post. I was definitely surprised by the example that I used.
